The First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of McKenzie, TN is currently accepting applications for the position of church secretary.  This is a full-time position, with regular office hours occurring Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.  Pay is commensurate with experience and an insurance stipend is available with proof of coverage.  The ideal beginning date for the successful candidate will be Jan. 6th, 2025.  The successful candidate must be ready to begin full-time employment no later than Feb. 3rd, 2025.  A full job description is listed below.  To apply, please submit a letter of intent and resume to jobs@mckenziecpc.org.

 

The First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of McKenzie, TN recognizes the importance of providing secretarial and administrative assistance in support of its programs and services.

 

The person who serves as Church Secretary will be a Christian who exemplifies the mission and ministry of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, at all times conducting him/herself as a representative of the Church.  The secretary will be sensitive to the needs of the session, the church staff, the congregation and the public.  He/she will be computer literate, numerate and will possess people skills that will enhance the ability to interface with the public and the church membership.  The Secretary will report directly to the pastor and work closely with the Church Session and its committees to help meet the goals and objectives of the church.

 

Specific Duties:

 

  1. The Church Secretary will report to the Senior Pastor.

 

  1. The Church Secretary will maintain regular office hours as agreed upon by the church session. 

 

  1. The Church Secretary will serve as the Clerk for the Session.  Responsibilities will include the accurate recording of meeting minutes, copying reports, managing communications with the Session, organizing and printing the agenda, etc. for all scheduled and called meetings. In the event of an absence, an active Session member will be assigned as a substitute to record meeting minutes.

 

  1. The Church Secretary will edit the church newsletter, prepare bulletins and inserts, letters, church correspondence and maintain a master calendar of scheduled church business, meetings and events.

 

  1. The Church Secretary will work closely with the pastor, committees and other staff in meeting assigned church duties.

 

  1. The Church Secretary will assist in accounting for church offerings, verifying totals, depositing monies and reporting to the Church Treasurer what funds have been deposited into which named accounts.

 

  1. The Church Secretary will perform other duties deemed necessary in the efficient operation of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Revisions and Exceptions

The Church Session reserves the right to revise staff positions at its discretion.  Performance evaluations will be based on the last signed job description.
